"Overall his numbers aren't bad, but it could always be better," the German said of the season's output - 5 goals and 7 assists in 17 appearances.
"Sometimes he suffered a bit of bad luck. It happens in football. I think we should check his stats at the end of the season, until then he will score a lot of goals for us."
When asked about replacing Zahavi in all of PSV's last eight games, Schmidt replied: "We have to keep an eye on him because he always plays 90 minutes for the team. Now he has only played two games instead of three, which is an advantage. I think he is in good shape ".
Finally, Schmidt referred to Zehavi's work ethic, which tends to appear first in every practice and is an example to the younger players at PSV: "The older you get, the more you enjoy football," the coach explained.
