In the final third, the gladiators turn up

The Erding Gladiators made a six-point weekend perfect.

Pfaffenhofen / Erding - The 6: 5 against Ulm on Friday was followed by the Erdinger ice hackers on Sunday at EC Pfaffenhofen 7: 3 (2: 2, 1: 1, 4: 0).

The victory was shot out in the last third, however.

Compared to the Ulm game, Erding's coach Thomas Vogl had one more striker available in Michael Trox. According to the agreement, Thomas Mende was in the gate. The start was not very promising. The gladiators looked tired and had trouble getting into the game. The hosts, who scored their first point in Buchloe on Friday, took advantage of this promptly. Elias Maier brought the Eishogs into the lead (5th), which Connor Sanvido outnumbered to 2-0 (8th). Erdings goalkeeper Mende had no chance of defense on both occasions.

A youngster of all people shook the gladiators awake. 19-year-old Erik Modlmayr refueled and left. Pfaffenhofen goalkeeper Thomas Hingel fended off with a brilliant save, but it seemed like a wake-up call for the guests. The Gladiators now looked much fresher, and when they first outnumbered, Florian Zimmermann made it 1: 2 after Trox Pass (12th). And when Daniel Krzizok scored 2: 2 (16.), the game was open again.

At the beginning of the second period the Erdinger had good chances through Trox (23rd) and Zimmermann (26th), but Hingel held terrific. The goal fell promptly on the opposite side: Pfaffenhofen's goal scorer Nick Endress was completely free and made it 3-2 - it was the first shot on Erdinger goal in the second third. Then Marko Babic had the equalizer on the racket, but also failed to Hingel (29th). But then Krzizok took heart. left three ice hogs and scored to make it 3: 3 (35th). After Erding's keeper Mende prevented the Pfaffenhofen 4: 3 with a great save, there was still a scramble and two players from each team marched onto the penalty bench.

In the final third, after goals from Sebastian Busch (42nd) and Trox (43rd), the gladiators quickly set the course for victory within just 59 seconds.

Now the Vogl troop had the ice hogs completely under control and no longer allowed the opponent to build up the game in an orderly manner.

Pfaffenhofen tried everything and took the goalkeeper off the ice for a sixth field player, but Zimmermann scored 6: 3 into the empty goal (59th).

And when keeper Hingel was back, Trox even added the 7: 3 22 seconds before the end, which was ultimately earned at this level due to the strong final third.
