Coach Pellegrino Matarazzo from VfB Stuttgart has made an impressive appeal to his players to get vaccinated against Corona. He suggests "every player," said Matarazzo in an interview with TV broadcaster Sky before the 1-1 (1: 1) remis in the Bundesliga at Borussia Mönchengladbach. One reason why some athletes have not wanted to take advantage of the vaccination so far, Matarazzo identified in false information circulating online: "However, the players also have different contact persons than us and read a lot on the Internet, which is partly garbage."
The Bundesliga club had to fight six corona cases in the team during the international break. Regular goalkeeper Florian Müller, Waldemar Anton, Erik Thommy, Roberto Massimo and Orel Mangala were missing against Gladbach, substitute goalkeeper Fabian Bredlow was only released at short notice. At Mangala, a negative second PCR test recently raised hopes for a false-positive first test and a prompt return of the midfielder to the training field.
A vaccination requirement imposed by the club should not exist for the players.
A vaccination is "also an important matter for the club," said Matarazzo: "However, each player decides for himself." Sports director Sven Mislintat emphasized that he was satisfied with the vaccination rate within the squad and believed that VfB in the age group was " above the national average «.
Mislintat also spoke out against compulsory vaccination.
You have to convince the players without compulsion: »It's about making arguments.
And if they are not convincing for individuals, then you have to accept that. "
