In 2013, when Anthony Bennett was selected first in the NBA Draft, then-Economy Minister Naftali Bennett was quick to congratulate him on a post that carried his election slogan - "Bennett is a brother."
This morning (Tuesday), eight years later, the two met in a situation that hardly any of them could have imagined then: Naftali Bennett, as prime minister, came to visit Hapoel Jerusalem, where Anthony Bennett is currently playing.
The people of Jerusalem gave the prime minister the number 1 jersey of the team, and a ball signed by the players.
Needless to say, there is really no family connection between the two, but the common last name made the meeting spicy.
The prime minister fattened the Canadian basketball player in Elijah for drowning, and even gave him a short lesson in Hebrew - when he taught him to say "Bennett is a brother."
