The third matchday in the Champions League ended after three defeats with the first German victory: FC Bayern Munich won 4-0 (0-0) at Benfica in Lisbon.
While Kai Havertz scored in Chelsea's runaway victory against Malmö, DFB colleague Timo Werner had to leave the field injured.
Manchester United came back spectacularly after trailing Atalanta 2-0 down.
FC Bayern Munich continues to be harmless in Group E.
In Lisbon, however, Benfica gave the German record champions the closest duel to date, which only tipped in the direction of Munich with Leroy Sané's goal (70th minute): Sané, who was in a central position instead of on the wing, had shot a free kick into the corner.
This was followed by an own goal by Éverton (80th), a goal by Robert Lewandowski (82nd) and Sané's second stroke (84th).
Previously, Bayern, where coach Julian Nagelsmann had to vacate the sideline for assistant coach Dino Toppmöller due to a cold, had some difficulties against the Portuguese.
Munich were the better team, but Benfica interfered early on, kept up well and demanded everything from Manuel Neuer in Bayern's goal through Darwin Núñez (33.) and Diogo Gonçalves (55.).
In addition, the first two goals from Munich were rightly denied: Lewandowski had passed the ball with his hand (41st), Müller was offside (51st), Pavard (48th) and Müller (49th) had also hit the post .
The goals, for which the chances had long since been there, then fell late.
In terms of sport, the Swedish champions Malmö FF presented no hurdles for Chelsea, the defending champions prevailed 4-0 (2-0).
The outsider nevertheless caused problems for the Londoners - but there were injury problems: First Lasse Nielsen not only caused a penalty with a foul, but also prevented star striker Romelu Lukaku from continuing to play (23), then his neighbor Timo Werner had to prematurely with a sore ankle from square (44th).
Beyond the injured attacker, it was a tailor-made evening for Thomas Tuchel's team.

With the third good chance, Rashford made his goal (53rd) after a fine outside pass from Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire (75th) and superstar Cristiano Ronaldo (81st) managed to turn the game completely upside down.
