Senegalese international midfielder from Nîmes (L2) Sidy Sarr, placed in police custody on Monday, was to be presented to a magistrate on Wednesday morning.

Sidy Sarr is in turmoil. The team unveiled on Wednesday the name of the professional player of Nîmes Olympique who has been in custody since Monday. As revealed by Objectif Gard, the 25-year-old Gard midfielder was arrested on Monday for allegedly "resorting to underage prostitution". His custody was extended on Tuesday. Absent against AC Ajaccio (0-2) Monday evening, during the closing match of the 12th day of L2, the Senegalese international was to be presented this Wednesday at the end of the morning to a magistrate of the public prosecutor's office of Nîmes. According to Midi Libre, he would have admitted having had consensual and paid sex with two minors aged 17. They are suspected of being involved in the theft of his Audi Q3, for which he had filed a complaint. The management of the club did not wish to react to a case of which several elements remain to be clarified.

Pope's cousin Matar Sarr, the midfielder of FC Metz, was nevertheless promised a bright future. Semi-finalist of the Under-20 World Cup in 2015 with the Senegal team, he signed a contract the same year with the Belgian team from Kortrijk (D1). Three later, he was loaned with an option to buy to the Berrichonne de Châteauroux then in L2. Sarr had his best pro season in 2017-18, scoring 11 goals and one assist in 31 games. Châteauroux decided to exercise the purchase option before lending it to Lorient in September 2018. A year later, he signed up for Nîmes Olympique, promoted to L1. The transfer is around 2M €. But the one who has 5 selections with the Teranga Lions (one goal) does not pass the cap.

Announced on the start this summer, Sidy Sarr, often injured, has played only 34 games in all competitions since his arrival in the Gard, including none this season.

His coaches (Blaquart, Arpinon, Plancque) have often criticized him for his lack of investment, Plancque even speaking in August of a “mess” for a player to whom he lends “the greatest potential of the group”.

Today, this Senegalese hope risks much more.
