Bayer Leverkusen did not win the third game in the Europa League group stage for the first time.
At Betis Sevilla, the Bundesliga third played 1: 1 (0: 0) and remains the leader of the table ahead of the Spaniards.
Borja Iglesias took the lead (75th minute, penalty), Robert Andrich equalized for Bayer (82nd).
Even without the top scorers Florian Wirtz and Patrik Schick, Bayer got off to a spectacular start.
Not a minute was played when the 38-year-old Claudio Bravo parried Lucas Alario's big chance in the Sevilla goal.
As a result, Betis acted more self-confidently thanks to the audience.
The closest to a goal came Aitor Ruibal, who had the empty goal in front of him after a rebound from Lukáš Hrádecký, but shot over the bar with a volley (24) - and Iglesias, whose finish also came too high from close range (42 .).
Two goals, both happy
Bayer's Jeremie Frimpong provided the climax of the game.
A flank from a free kick jumped to the arm of the duped Bayer defender, and after a long period of thought, the referee team decided a penalty for Sevilla.
A contentious decision.
Iglesias converted the penalty as powerfully as it was in the middle (75th).
The fact that the Leverkusen supporters were also able to celebrate a goal in the twelfth competitive game of the season is thanks to a lucky European Cup debutant: Robert Andrich's shot was decisively deflected (81st).
Group G leads Leverkusen ahead of Betis (also 7 points), only the first one moves directly into the round of 16, the second has to qualify for it in a second round.

Union loses in the Conference League
Union Berlin had imagined the away trip to Rotterdam differently: Not only was there a dispute between fans and police forces on the edge of the 1: 3 (1: 2) defeat in the Conference League against Feyenoord, after hooligans the night before from Rotterdam had already attacked a Bundesliga team delegation in a bar near the team hotel. In terms of sport, too, it was an evening to forget for the team headed by Urs Fischer.
It started at 0-0 when Taiwo Awoniyi was not awarded a penalty after Feynoord defender Gernot Trauner got on board (8th).
Then Alireza Jahanbakhsh brought the superior hosts in the front (11th), after a failure by Robin Knoche, who underestimated a long ball, Bryan Linssen scored the second goal (29th).
With a header after a corner kick, Awoniyi brought Berlin back into the game (35th), but Union never built up any real pressure.
Luis Sinisterra made everything clear with a dust goal (76th).
For Union it is the second defeat after three out of six group games: they had previously lost to Slavia Prague, the only victory was against Maccabi Haifa.
