Israel's basketball team for the deaf and hard of hearing recorded a historic achievement last night (Thursday): for the first time in its history, it qualified for the European Championship semi-finals - and also secured its place in next year's Olympics in Brazil.
The blue-and-whites defeated Greece 73:82 and will face Ukraine in the Final Four today.
The victory in the quarterfinals was Israel's first over the Greeks after 21 years of drought.
"We came back from a big delay, and we made our way to the semi-finals in a special way," said coach Adir Zrihan.
"I am proud of what we have done here. I told the players that we must stay with our feet on the ground and get ready for the semi-finals against a strong opponent, to try to break another record and pick up a medal."
