VfL Bochum has clinched its third win of the season in the Bundesliga. In the home game against Eintracht Frankfurt, the promoted team won 2-0 (1-0), ex-Frankfurt Danny Blum (3rd minute) and Sebastian Polter (90th + 2) were successful scorers. Eintracht, which at no time could build on the exciting performance on Thursday in the Europa League, missed the best chance of equalizing when Gonçalo Paciência shot a hand penalty in the arms of VfL keeper Manuel Riemann (10th).
Blum benefited from an excellent through pass by Takuma Asano on his comeback after a five-month injury break before he put the ball past Kevin Trapp into the goal (3rd).
When the ball was beheaded a little later on Polter's right hand after a corner, the Frankfurter opened up the chance to equalize with the due penalty - which Paciência let slip with his weak penalty shot (10th).
It shouldn't be the last annoying moment for Frankfurt in the first half, in which Bochum managed well to keep the offensive key players Filip Kostić and Daichi Kamada out of the game: First Paciência had to leave the field, then it went for Kristijan Jakić no further.
Sam Lammers and Sebastian Rode came into the game for the duo (28th, 45th).
Bochum overtakes Frankfurt in the table
In the course of the second half, Frankfurt gained more and more control of the game, but hardly got any good chances.
Bochum, on the other hand, had several opportunities to extend the lead: Asano missed a sharp cross in the center by only centimeters (70th), Tuta saved in dire need with a tackle against Polter (78th).
Daichi Kamada failed with the best Frankfurt chance at the post (86th), Polter made everything clear late (90th + 2).
So it was a victory for VfL, who jumped to 14th place in the table with ten points and are now directly ahead of Frankfurt (eight points).
