Starting from pole position but overtaken by Lewis Hamilton at the start, the Dutchman of Red Bull finally got ahead of the Briton to widen the gap at the top of the World Drivers' Championship standings over his rival Mercedes (287.5 pts against 275, 5).
His teammate Sergio Pérez completed the podium.
