Al-Hasakah, SANA- The veteran player Kawa Younes won the first place in the Al-Hasakah Championship for speed chess in the men’s category.

Veteran player Kawa Younes achieved first place in the Al-Hasakah Championship for Speed ​​Chess in the men's category, which witnessed a strong competition between twenty players representing Al-Jazira, Amuda, Tal Hamis, Al-Shabiba and Al-Jibsa clubs.

Younes from Amuda Club won the first place, ahead of Firas Issa from Tal Hamis Club, who ranked second, and Maher Al-Rubaie from Al Jazira Club, who came in third.

The tournament, organized by the Technical Committee of the Sports Federation branch and the Safsaf Al-Khabour Association, in cooperation with the Directorate of Culture, in the hall of the Arab Cultural Center in Al-Hasakah, was held in the Swiss system and included six rounds to determine the first three places.

The head of the game's technical committee, Mithaq Hassan, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the tournament was characterized by competition and creativity, especially during the last rounds to determine the first winning players.

Ahmed Al-Hussein, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Safsaf Al-Khabour Association, indicated that this tournament is the second, as it was preceded by organizing a tournament for juniors during the past year, because of the great importance of chess and with the aim of encouraging it in light of the presence of the names of distinguished players who were able to achieve advanced positions at the level of local and Arab tournaments.
