The Geretsrieder River Rats celebrated an 8-1 victory at home against Amberg on Sunday.
There was an extra praise from coach Rudi Sternkopf for keeper Martin Morczinietz and defender Dominic Fuchs.
Geretsried - The Geretsried ice hockey team has the first six-point weekend under their belt. Even if the ERSC Amberg stubbornly resisted on Sunday evening, the River Rats celebrated a deserved 8: 1 (2: 0, 2: 0, 4: 0) success in the end. "The result turned out a bit too high," admitted Rudi Sternkopf, who particularly praised the good exploitation of opportunities. The ESC trainer paid an extra compliment to goalkeeper Martin Morczinietz ("Has held up well again") and defender Dominic Fuchs ("Has been playing outstandingly for weeks").
The home side got a little hard to get going, so Amberg had the first chances. "If we put them in, the game can go differently," said coach Dan Heilman later. But little by little the Geretsrieder took the reins and took the lead through Ondrej Horvath (11th). In the meantime, Morczinietz defused some chances before Klaus Berger made it 2-0 (16 th).
In the second section, too, the Upper Palatinate pressed for the connection, but were caught off guard by Fuchs' low shot to make it 3-0 (27th).
Then again ESC keeper Morczinietz was in focus, before Berger again increased to 4-0 (34th).
Amberg also played cheerfully forward in the final third, but the home side's defensive was in place.
And on the other side, the goals fell like ripe fruit: twice Maximilian Hüsken (44th / 58th), Daniel Merl (44th), Martin Köhler (50th) and Benedikt May (54th) when Marco Pronath conceded the guests (50th) shot out the 8-1 victory.
"A deserved success, because we were in the penalty box too often," admitted ERSC coach Heilman.
