In England, today marks the 25th anniversary of one of the greatest games in the history of the Premier League, which also happens to be considered one of the greatest games of an Israeli footballer in Europe.

On October 26, 1996, Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United arrived at the South Stadium in Southampton, losing 6-3 after a performance by the host in the media starring none other than Eyal Berkowitz.

For Berkowitz, it was the first year in the Premier League, after leaving Maccabi Haifa in favor of the team from the south of England.

The game against Manchester United was the Legionnaire's third in the league, and after failing to score or cook in the first two games, he exploded against the Empire from Manchester.

Ferguson's team, which won the championship at the end of that season, featured a lineup full of legends that includes David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Eric Cantona, Peter Schmeichel and even Jordi Cruyff.

By the way, a new and promising striker has emerged from the bench this season, Ola Gunnar Solskjaer.

In the sixth minute, United's legendary goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel toped Agile Austensed's attempt, but Berkowitz kicked the rebound and scored his first goal in the kingdom.

The visitors were left with ten players after Roy Cain was sent off in the 20th minute, and a quarter of an hour later Matt La Tissier doubled with a typical chip off the field after Berkowitz's cooking.

Four minutes before the break United returned to the game thanks to a successful free kick by David Beckham, but the half-time result was 1: 3 after a goal by Austensed.

This time, too, Berkowitz was signed to the cooking.

United shrank once again thanks to David May in the 56th minute, but Berkowitz completed a double in the 83rd minute with an amazing volley off the field.

Israeli and provided one of the most iconic celebrations as he waved his hands.

Just before he was replaced in the 85th minute, Berkowitz managed to add a third cook and Austensed made it 2: 5.

Two goals in the 89th minute, by Paul Scholes and myself by Gary Neville, set up a crazy 3: 6.
