The Atlanta Braves have won the first game in the final series of North American Major League Baseball.

The Braves won 6-2 at the Houston Astros on Tuesday evening (local time).

Jorge Soler put Atlanta in the lead with a home run in the first inning.

After three innings, the Braves were already leading 5-0.

Then they had to cope with a bitter loss: Starting pitcher Charlie Morton had to be replaced with a broken fibula and will also be out of the rest of the World Series.

He contracted the injury after being hit by a ball from Astros professional Yuli Gurriel early in the game.

Until he was eliminated, however, he still took 16 litters - with a broken leg.

According to the Braves, he is expected to be back for spring training in 2022.

“We have seen many times this year that we have lost key components of our club.

I mean really important components, ”said Braves manager Brian Snitker.

“We'll go on.

That won't be an excuse or anything.

We'll go out and keep trying to win games. "

Wanted to succeed the Dodgers

The World Series are played in best-of-seven mode.

The second game is already on Thursday night, also in Houston.

We are looking for the successor to the Los Angeles Dodgers, who beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-2 last year.

The record winners are the New York Yankees with 27 titles since the first edition in 1903.

The Atlanta Braves have won the World Series three times so far, most recently in 1995, the Houston Astros once in 2017, including pitcher Morton in the squad.

However, this success was overshadowed by a scandal: For years, the Astros around coaching star Alex Cora had illegally spied on their opponents.
