Oren Amiel paid the price for the failure in Europe and was fired from Hapoel Jerusalem.

A day after the 76:65 loss to Stal Ostrov and a few hours after the team returned from Poland, the coach met with the club heads and was informed of the end of his career.

"Hapoel Jerusalem and coach Oren Amiel have reached mutual understandings and agreements on the termination of the coach's role in the team.

We thank Oren for his time at the club and wish him success in the future," the club said tonight (Thursday). Which will be signed by a new head coach.

Assistant coaches Donalds Kyris and Goni Yizraeli will continue in their usual role.

As you may recall, last season Hapoel Jerusalem was forced to make a change on the lines, first when Oded Katash left for Panathinaikos and about three months later the team announced the dismissal of Dainius Adomitis.

Amiel, 49, was appointed Hapoel Jerusalem coach last June after about seven years at Czech side Nymburk, first as an assistant coach and for the next four years as head coach.

This was his second term in Jerusalem, but in the 2013/14 season he served as Brad Greenberg's assistant and now has the opportunity to lead the team, but unfortunately soon parted ways with it.

The team does not intend to settle for a shock on the lines and these days they are already looking for a foreign chin that could replace Thun Maker.

On Sunday, Jerusalem will host Hapoel Holon in the Premier League and in the European framework it will return in two weeks in an attempt to get the ticket to the top 16 despite the small chances following the three losses in the FIBA Champions League.
