The regional league volleyball players of the SC Freising expect an emotional game against the VC DJK Amberg.

- Thanks to tactical cleverness and a lot of routine, the SC Freising regional league volleyball players secured a 3-0 win in Dinkelsbühl at the start of the season.

The SCF men have obviously put up with the one and a half year forced Corona break.

"We were a bit surprised ourselves at how well things were going for us," said captain Moritz Steinberg after the performance in Dinkelsbühl.

Because the preparation for the season was anything but ideal.

Some of the team had discovered other leisure activities for themselves during Corona and thus put their sport back a little.

Steinberg alludes to the initially not so high participation in training.

“So we all have to adjust our heads to volleyball again.” He is certain that participation in training will gradually return to normal.

At 34, Moritz Steinberg is one of the veterans in the team.

In 2009 he was allowed to play in the first team for the first time as a youngster, back then in the Bayern League.

Like the Regionalliga today, it was the fourth league in Germany.

“The level in the league has increased significantly in recent years,” says Steinberg.

There are teams that have strengthened themselves with ex-professionals, but also those like Dinkelsbühl who have made it into the regional league on their own thanks to excellent youth work.

In the sports club camp, it is now curious whether the Freising against Amberg can seamlessly build on the performance from the Dinkelsbühl game.

However, there is no coach Falk Ullmann.

He is represented by Maximilian Krumbholz, who himself played in the sports club team for years.

"He has enough experience, also as a coach," says Steinberg calmly.

In addition, the SCF captain is one of the central figures on the field: Due to his personality, he is able to lead the team, whip them if necessary or calm them down in emotionally difficult situations.
