In the end, the ice pirates can no longer withstand the pressure of the Wild Lions.
Amberg / Dorfen - ESC Dorfen had the game at ERSC Amberg Wild Lions under control for two thirds on Friday evening and led 3: 1.
Not least because of unnecessary penalties, the Eispiraten gave up the reins in the final third with four goals against and lost 3: 5 (1: 0, 2: 1, 0: 4).
In the initial phase, ESC goalie Luca Endres got, as expected, more to do than his counterpart Carsten Metz, because the wild lions were very aggressive. When the ESC set the first two-minute penalty, Florian Fischer had to go to the penalty bench, luck stood by the goalkeeper's side because US boy Ryan Murphy only hit the crossbar (7th). But while still being outnumbered, the ice pirates had their first opportunity to take the lead from Urban Sodja on the counterattack, but he missed. The Wild Lions achieved a slight overweight visually, but the Isenstädter skilfully narrowed the space in front of their well-arranged keeper. The Eispiraten acted with good fore-checking and came through Tomas Vrba, on a pass from Maximilian Steiner, 1-0 (14th). The ice pirates brought this lead into the first third break.
When the Upper Palatinate received their first penalty at the beginning of the third, David Hrazdira took heart just behind the blue line and overcame Goalie Metz to make it 2-0 (22nd minute). The close game continued in the second third. Although the hosts countered the 2-0 lead of the ESC by Brett Mennear quickly to 1: 2 (26th), but the ice pirates used another outnumbered game in the 34th minute to 3: 1, the sodja with a remarkable solo run - the Slovene dropped three opponents - scored. Dorfen now acted very skillfully from the depths and came up with counter chances. But the lions also had several good opportunities, in which ESC goalie Endres was able to excel again and again.
In the final third, the hosts increased the pressure and scored the 2: 3 goal in a power play through Felix Köbele (45th).
And five minutes later Shawn Campbell scored 3: 3.
The weak ice pirates now lost their strength and the Wild Lions turned the game around within two minutes: Mario Strobel brought Amberg 4: 3 in the lead (56th), and Köbele added 5: 3 (58th) .).
