Ünder, a goal that is worth gold for OM
He did not succeed everything on the lawn of Gabriel-Montpied, but Cengiz Ünder was clearly the most prominent player this Sunday. Very active on his right wing, the Turkish international has never ceased to provoke and pierced the Auvergne defense on several occasions. Dangerous, and effective. With a beautiful strike curled from the left into the small opposite net, the player loaned by Roma scored the only goal of a very precious victory for an OM (0-1) in sharp decline in recent weeks.
Guendouzi still present
Unbeatable in the Marseille midfield since the start of the season, Mattéo Guendouzi has again made a good copy.
Author of a delicious service on the opportunity missed by Dieng at the start of the match, the 22-year-old also took out the warm-up in recovery (85% of duels won).
Quickly warned for protest, he managed to keep his nerves to the end despite the permanent whistles from Clermont supporters.
FLOPS
Khaoui passes through
Pascal Gastien tried a bet by establishing Saîf-Eddine Khaoui in a playmaker role, in place of Berthomier. A not really conclusive choice. Invisible in the first period, the Tunisian international lacked spontaneity on a great opportunity after returning from the locker room. Disappointing and quickly replaced, Khaoui had a painful evening on the occasion of his reunion with OM, his former club.
The Marseille defense was scared
Never worried before the break, OM had a much less peaceful second period. Faced with the more intense pressing of the Clermontois, the Marseillais constantly wanted to come out cleanly from behind, but they were trapped on numerous occasions. And several of those balls lost near the surface resulted in big chances in favor of the promoted. Fortunately for the Phocéens, the Auvergne attackers were not having a great night in the last gesture.
De la Fuente too discreet
If Ünder weighed in his right lane, Konrad de la Fuente did not exist enough on the Marseille left wing.
The 20-year-old, who only touched 19 balls, posed too few problems for the Clermont defense.
Too discreet, like its last outings, and finally replaced before the hour of play.
