Reece Oxford managed to equalize for Augsburg

In the Swabian duel, FC Augsburg clearly prevailed against VfB Stuttgart at home. In the 4: 1 (1: 1) against Stuttgart, Reece Oxford (30th minute), Jeffrey Gouweleeuw (52nd), Florian Niederlechner (72nd) and Alfred Finnbogason (82nd) ensured FCA's second win of the season, Chris Führich had previously put Stuttgart in the lead (7th). VfB lost a game in the Bundesliga for the first time in four games and again had to complain about failures after several corona infections and protracted injuries to key players had already thinned the squad.
Stuttgart coach Pellegrino Matarazzo had to do without Konstantinos Mavropanos anyway, the central defender was unavailable with a torn muscle fiber. It wasn't long before the list of injured Stuttgart professionals got even longer: First Führich gave Stuttgart the lead by pulling in from half-right and shooting the ball into the short corner from 18 meters (7th), then the scorer had to with pain at the ankle from the square (23rd).
After Führich's replacement, the Stuttgarters came to their own offensive actions much less often, Augsburg became stronger.
Ruben Vargas from afar (25th), Daniel Caligiuri with a treacherous free kick (27th) and Alfred Finnbogason, who failed to VfB substitute keeper Fabian Bredlow (29th), were already approaching - Oxford's header brought a corner kick then the earned compensation (30th).
Before the break, there was another setback for Stuttgart: Marc-Oliver Kempf could not continue playing with thigh problems, Clinton Mola completed the VfB defense (39th).
The next corner is also in place
At the beginning of the second half, a hesitation on the part of Bredlow helped the FCA to take the lead: Because the VfB goalkeeper did not go to the ball after a corner kick, Gouweleeuw was able to head the Augsburg lead from the tightly packed crowd of players in the penalty area (52nd).
In the final phase, however, the Stuttgart team, who were dangerous on the counterattack, decided the game through Niederlechner (72nd) and Finnbogason (82nd).
Augsburg remains in the relegation place despite the victory, but is now level on points with Eintracht Frankfurt.
With one point more, the Stuttgart-based company is in 13th place.
