Upon hearing the shot, players from both teams fled the lawn running into the locker rooms.
The coach, named Mauricio Romero, was treated at the scene of the injury and was later rushed to hospital when the club announced he was "in reasonable condition and out of danger".
Local police arrived at the hospital and collected testimony from Romero.
In Argentina, nine suspects were reportedly arrested on suspicion of involvement in the shootings, with President Hurricane meanwhile announcing his resignation.
