And it took Alkaraz to about two hours and 53 minutes to decide the result of the match in his favour, and beat the owner of the land and the public in two sets for one, 7-5, 7-6, 5-7.
In a second match, South African tennis player Lloyd Harris withdrew from the Paris Championships due to back pain, and will replace Australian Popperin to face his compatriot De Minor.
