than a minute ago, Marco De Simone was still standing on the sidelines as a substitute, now he puts on a first sprint on the lawn, then the first touch of the ball, the first shot - and the next moment the ball is in the goal of SV Riedmoos, to 3-1 for VfR Garching II. On the field the striker celebrates his goal, in front of the coaching bench Michael Weicker his golden hand.
"At the moment we are doing really well," the football coach will say after the final whistle, referring to the overall situation at VfR - and not just the duel against Riedmoos or De Simones Jokertor. His goal to make it 3: 1 is something like the knot loosener for the championship leader of the district class 2 in a game in which the guests in the first half hold against it more than well. In the end, however, the Garching Reserve scored a 6: 1 - another big win for one of the currently most goal-hungry teams in Upper Bavaria.
4: 1, 10: 2, 4: 1, 5: 0, 11: 1 and now 6: 1 - the latest VfR results are impressive. “We score a lot”, praised Weicker, before he remarked: “But we also catch one or the other too much.” Nevertheless, after the success over Riedmoos, his team is still on the sunny place of the table - with a course towards the district league. “Before the season started, our goal was that we wanted to play at the top,” says the coach. "How well the team partially implements the requirements is beyond expectations."
Weicker cites two reasons for the strong performance. First, the squad got stronger in the summer. On the one hand, this is due to several players from their own youth such as Archad Korodowou, Farid Kamil and Mert Yardim, "who once again added real quality," praised the coach. On the other hand, the most prominent VfR footballer of the recent past has been playing for the reserve since this season - namely Dennis Niebauer, long-time captain of the first team. “Dennis doesn't train often, but in the games he gives the whole team a huge boost,” enthuses Weicker.
Second, according to the coach, there has been a close relationship between the first and second teams since this season - which was not the case in previous years. As a result, his reserve not only get regular support from above, against Riedmoos, for example, from the double goal scorer Alessandro Cazorla and Kubilay Celik. But the other way around, players from his squad are likely to get a taste of the Bayern league team. “That is an incentive for everyone when they see that there is a chance to be recommended,” says Weicker.
With a view to working with the first team, it would be advantageous if his team played in the district league in the medium term, says the coach.
At this early point in time, he does not want to declare ascent as a goal.
However, Michael Weicker also says: "In terms of quality, I think that our squad could keep up in the district league."
