Barcelona coach Sergei Barjuan presented to Barcelona players (official website)
After Barcelona scored three important points in the Champions League with a 0-1 away win over Dynamo Kiev last night (Tuesday), its management continues with the really important task: reaching an agreement with Qatari al-Sad on the release of Xavi, to appoint him soon as the new coach of the team. A delegation from Barça landed in Doha today, but the one who did not travel was President Joan Laporta, despite demands from my husband al-Sad that Laporta will show up in Qatar himself if he is interested in conducting the negotiations.
Yesterday, Sheikh Muhammad bin Hamed made it clear that he was not interested in discussing the issue with other representatives, but in the end those who will come to Qatar are Vice President Rafa Yusta and the sporting director Matteo Alman, with Barcelona optimistic that the transfer will close by tomorrow. "The Qataris will not ruin Xavi's dream job," Catalonia radio claimed yesterday. "It was an unsuccessful attempt to record an image achievement with a picture of Laporta in Qatar."
The main dispute between the clubs seems to be over the amount of compensation the Qataris will receive. The UAE has reported that Xavi's release clause stands at around € 10 million, a sum that Barcelona are not willing (or unable) to pay at the moment. According to reports in Catalonia, the compromise offered by Barça is the existence of a friendly match against al-Saad with its participation, whose proceeds will be transferred directly to Qatar. Despite the slightly unfounded proposal, in Spain it is estimated that the crossing will close quickly.

Barcelona complied with al-Sadr's request that Xavi stand on its lines in tonight's game against El Duhail, where a win would give it a 6-point lead at the top of the table in Qatar.
After that, al-Sad's next game will take place in December, which will leave her time to find a replacement for Xavi.
According to the Catalan media, Xavi's contract will be until the end of the 2023/24 season, with an option for another two years.
