District - There were not too many running competitions for amateurs this year - due to Corona.

Two athletes from TSV Penzberg, Hugo Mann and Markus Brennauer, managed to take overall victory at their respective premieres.

Simssee Half Marathon: With a special hygiene concept and a participant limit, the PTSV Rosenheim was able to ensure that the 13th edition of the Simssee Half Marathon was held. Hugo Mann (67) from Penzberg dominated the action in his age group on the route southwest of Bad Endorf. With 1:37:47 hours he was 14 minutes ahead of the runner-up and would have even clearly won the younger M60 age group with his time. "In view of the lack of specific training preparation, I am very satisfied with the result," said the TSV Penzberg runner. Immediately after the start in Moosen (Rosenheim district), Mann set a constant pace so that he could still accelerate at the end of the race. The course around the Simssee has a few inclines, especially on the second half of the route. The last six kilometers are at least 73 meters uphill.

Hugo Mann wins age group by a large margin

The overall winners came from the host PTSV Rosenheim.

Michael Pritzl won the men in 1:14:24 hours.

The winner last shone at the Munich Marathon with a time of 2:31 hours and took 13th place in the DM classification.

In the evaluation of the Bavarian championship, Pritzl won silver in Munich.

In the women's category, the current mountain running world champion Kerstin Esterlechner (1:27:16) was the fastest.

Hugo Mann landed in the overall ranking of all men in 42nd place out of 206 finishers.

Kirtalauf:

Markus Brennauer has a very special relationship with the Kirtalauf of TSV Benediktbeuern-Bichl. In 1987, the now 41-year-old model runner of TSV Penzberg took part in the competition for the first time, which offers a very demanding route, starting at the swimming pool. In his appearances, he was usually at the forefront - and it was exactly the same with the 38th edition. He won the 10-kilometer distance with 37:22 minutes.

After a "very cautious start" according to Brennauer, the TSV athlete caught up with Paul Duckeck (TSV Benediktbeuern-Bichl) after one kilometer and ran with him up to 2.5 kilometers. "When it went downhill on the Lainbach, I accelerated the pace a bit," reported Brennauer. Duckeck could no longer follow this increase in tempo. From then on, the Penzberger ran a lonely race at the top, although he didn't quite go to his limit. “Because of my big training deficit, I had no idea what my capabilities were.” The Penzberger hadn't been able to train over the summer due to a fatigue fracture in his left metatarsus and has only been back in running training for a few weeks. Nevertheless, it was only a minute slower than in 2020 in the same place. Second place went to Wolfgang Krause (LC Tölzer Land / 39: 05).Behind them, Duckeck (39:52) came in third overall and won the M21 class.

Markus Brennauer in Benediktbeuern is in a class of his own

Also at the start in Benediktbeuern were numerous athletes from SV Söchering.

Andreas Kohlhund (38) ran the ten kilometers in 44:51 minutes, which brought him second place in his age group.

The juniors each ran five kilometers.

Among the U18 boys, Korbinian Soyer (SV Söchering) won the day with a time of 20:26 minutes.

In the male dwarfs (over 500 meters), SV Söchering even celebrated a triple victory: Simon Weißbach (1:42) won ahead of Simon Huber (1:55) and Jonathan Kreß (1:56).

Eva Kennerknecht (5:09) impressed with the best time of the girls in age group S10, who ran 1.1 kilometers. Among the S10 boys, Simon Arnold (5:06) came second behind Tobias Lex from Rottenbuch, who set the fastest time with 5:04 minutes. In the S12 class race, Magdalena Lex (TSV Rottenbuch / 4: 52) came second, Maximilian Rath (TV Lenggries / 4: 19) from Penzberg won the boys. The district athletes also landed far ahead in the J16 class: Katharina Rath from Penzberg completed the five kilometers in 22:23 minutes, making her the fastest. Marlene Bader (25:34) from SV Söchering landed in third place.

The vast majority of the 170 participants belonged to the junior division.

For the organizers from TSV Benediktbeuern-Bichl, that was completely fine.

"We are doing this primarily to get the youngsters involved in sport - to get them away from the game console and the computer," emphasizes department head Marcus Klingler, who once again moderated the event as a course spokesman.
