A Clauss at international level
No doubt revenge for not having seen his name appear in Didier Deschamps' list on Thursday, Jonathan Clauss has once again shown that he has the international level.
Against Troyes, the right “
piston
” was absolutely exceptional.
He has, as usual, multiplied the races on his side and delivered many crosses to his partners.
Two of them hit the mark: on Arnaud Kalimuendo's opening scoring (14th), then on Wesley Saïd's goal (29th). His 5th and 6th assists in Ligue 1 this season. This makes him the current best passer in the championship. The native of Strasbourg also tried several strikes, but it was with his head that he scored the goal (35th) which rewarded him for his efforts. Without a doubt the man of this meeting.
Kalimuendo started it all
Other players like Wesley Saïd or Seko Fofana could also have been mentioned, but this evening Arnaud Kalimuendo deserved his performance to be highlighted.
The player on loan from Paris Saint-Germain was one of the main instigators of Lensois success.
It was he who changed the match by opening the scoring (14th) while his team was in difficulty.
This new achievement brings his total to 4 goals this season in Ligue 1. He could still have increased his counter if he had converted all his chances.
The international hope was also refused a second goal (42nd) for an offside more than limit.
Flops
The first Trojan period
While they seemed to have entered the match, however, Laurent Battles' men did not delude themselves for long and quickly became disillusioned. The Trojan technician had prepared his shot well, but as soon as Kalimuendo (14th) opened the scoring, everything collapsed. Led, the players of ESTAC have discovered more, very badly took them. They experienced a real ordeal on the lawn of Bollaert.
Asphyxiated by the Lensois pressing, the Trojan rearguard saw the waves of blood and gold fall on the goals of Gauthier Gallon, completely overwhelmed who ended up giving in to Saïd (29th) and Clauss (35th).
While the promoted was led by 3 goals at the break, the match was already folded.
They tried to limit the damage in the second half, but gave in again on Frankowski's goal (60th).
The Trojans had a nightmarish match in which everything was played out in the first 45 minutes.
Gallon has cracked
If he is obviously not at fault on all Lensois goals, Gauthier Gallon was not very reassuring this Friday.
The ESTAC goalkeeper had an absolutely dramatic evening, like his teammates.
He certainly repelled several attempts by the Blood and Gold players, but each time the balls systematically returned to the feet of the Lensois attackers who did not hesitate to score.
There may be a little bit of luck in that, but that's not all.
And then, the Trojan goalkeeper still gave in four times (14th, 29th, 35th, 60th) and did not really stand out with real saves, except on the free kick from Clauss (51st) that it repels perfectly.
An evening for him to forget.
