In an interview, the VfL captain talks about his time in Giesing, his ambitions with VfL and the game on Saturday (2 p.m.).

Not really.

How is your relationship with the club?
There isn't too much contact left, to be honest.
But of course I still follow the club.
Since we've been back in a league due to our relegation, a little more.
You never lose sight of the lions completely.

How do you get by in the Lower Saxony "province"?
Very good, I really have to say that!
That fit like a fist on the eye right from the start.
The audience in Osnabrück likes player types like me and I also feel good in the city.
I now have family here.
Overall, it couldn't have gone much better.
If - as you say - you are still following the Lions, how do you rate the club in 13th place in the current situation?
I assume that you would have imagined a different place in the table for matchday 15 before the season.
I don't know how the mood is currently.
I'm too far away for that.
At sixty, the environment is always something of a class.
In both directions you often go straight to extremes.
But after the (almost) success last year, it is not so easy to confirm that.
In the 3rd division anyway, which is incredibly tight.
But we also noticed the exclamation mark with the cup success.
Marco Hiller recently said that a draw for the lions in Osnabrück was not enough.
Is that justified despite the “second versus 13th” constellation?
It would be bad if he said something different.
The same goes for us: we want to win too.
The Bremer Brücke will burn and then it will be brutally difficult for sixty.

You mention it: The Bremer Brücke is notorious for its good atmosphere and, like the Grünwalder, is located in the middle of a working-class district.
How would you compare the two stages?
They are already similar.
The location too, that's right.
Ours is a bit narrower and fully covered, which also makes a small difference.
We don't have to hide from the mood, on the contrary: it's a bit louder here.
The fans here are what make VfL what it is.
VfL can keep the lions ten points away with a win.
Is that an incentive for your team?
Rather not.
We want to do our thing and start a series after beating Verl on Monday.
If we want to stick with it, we have to win this thing.
What are the general ambitions for VfL?
After relegation from the second division you want to go straight back up, don't you?
Basically, it is not that easy to find your way in the 3rd division after relegation.
That's why I think we can be satisfied with second place at the moment.
And once you have it, you don't want to give it up again.
But it is still too early to speak of ascent.
