Three days after the disappointing 1: 3 against Ajax Amsterdam in the Champions League, Borussia Dortmund suffered the next setback in the Bundesliga.
In the Saturday evening game at RB Leipzig, BVB lost 1: 2 (0: 1) through goals from Christopher Nkunku (29th minute) and Yussuf Poulsen (68th).
Marco Reus had equalized in between for the clearly inferior Dortmund (52nd).
Leipzig, which after a 2-2 draw against Paris Saint-Germain during the week can no longer reach the round of 16 in the Champions League, has moved to fifth place in the Bundesliga for the time being.
As second, Dortmund is now four points behind the leaders FC Bayern.
Leipzig started off strong.
Nkunku failed twice against the good BVB goalkeeper Gregor Kobel (12th, 17th).
Then RB central defender Josko Gvardiol played an outstanding pass between the Dortmund defenders, Nkunku dribbled around Kobel and scored his eleventh goal in the 17th competitive game this season.
Because there are six more templates in the Bundesliga, Champions League and Cup, you can confidently say that the 23-year-old is the player of the hour at RB.
Dortmund, which had to do without top striker Erling Haaland again and had numerous other injuries to complain about, switched from back three to back four in the second half.
But first Leipzig got a chance again through Poulsen (50th).
But with the very first real opportunity Dortmund equalized: As before Gvardiol at RB, Thomas Meunier pushed a pass through the Leipzig defensive line for BVB, Reus took him and equalized (52nd).
A goal that had not been announced.
Leipzig countered.
Again Nkunku failed to Kobel (60th) and only four minutes later after heavy dribbling on the post (64th).
A cross from the attacker, who was trained at Paris Saint-Germain, then used RB captain Poulsen for the winning goal (68th).
