Munich victory in the top game against Freiburg: The 100

2021-11-06T17:55:04.194Z

Strong Munich players around Leon Goretzka inflict their first defeat of the season on the well-fortified SC Freiburg and set a new club record. In the end, it wasn't a completely round afternoon.

The quote of the game:

Christian Günter had just fought for 94 minutes. But when the game against FC Bayern was over and lost 2-1, the Freiburg captain still didn't want to get out of combat mode. Yes, of course it's a shame that the beautiful series has now broken without defeat, said Günter. Freiburg was previously the only team in German professional football to remain undefeated. »But«, says Günter, »Munich was the maximum touchstone. We have seen that we can keep up to a certain extent. And there is still a second leg. «Suddenly you are pleasantly self-confident in Freiburg. And this game had shown that they can afford it.

The result:

Bayern still deserved to win the top game first against third with 2: 1 (1: 0) - after goals from Leon Goretzka (30th) and Robert Lewandowski (75th). But at the end of the day, Jannik Haberer destroyed the connection goal and thus the perfectly perfect afternoon for Munich (93rd minute). Click here for the match report.

The first half of the first half:

The first 30 minutes were as much fun as in Bayern games rarely in the Bundesliga. That was because the Freiburg team not only came third in the table, but also performed like that and thus gave the second necessary part for a real top game. SC attacker Lucas Höler, who with his long hair and seven-day beard reminds you of the Argentine striker Gabriel Batistuta, could even have taken the lead when he suddenly appeared alone in front of Manuel Neuer (12th). He failed. There are also differences to Batistuta.

The second half of the first half:

But then Joshua Kimmich was once across the air, and somehow the game tipped over to the side of Munich. Kimmich failed with his overhead kick (28th). But now Bayern became more dominant and took the lead. Goretzka himself initiated his second goal of the season when he passed a sharp pass from Dayot Upamecano directly to Thomas Müller. Müller's pass then landed back at Goretzka and he scored from eleven meters to make it 1-0 (30th). For Müller it was the ninth assist in the eleventh game of the season.

Fully occupied, but not completely happy:

75,000 spectators saw the lead in the Munich stadium. For the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, the arena was full again (with 2G rule for visitors). Some fans used the framework for a fundamental criticism of their club management. The fact that Qatar Airways, the national airline of a country, is allowed to advertise on its jersey sleeves and on gangs that is accused of violating human rights on a large scale, they did not want to quietly accept.

The second half:

Freiburg had lost a bit of drive towards the front. This could be seen from the fact that Maximilian Eggenstein's attempt in the 49th minute was the SC's first shot on goal since the 24th minute. Bavaria, on the other hand, remained dangerous. The very agile Leroy Sané failed from 22 meters. Seconds later Goretzka should have scored his second goal, but the German international hit the post from a few meters (both 56th). Another shot from him from 18 meters flew just inches past the corner of the goal (67th).

The 100-goal Bayern:

The 2-0 then delivered the then completely inconspicuous Lewandowski.

A cross from the very strong, storming left-back Alphonso Davies failed to get Sané on goal with his weaker right foot.

The ball landed at Lewandowski, and the dusted off.

It was the Poland's 13th goal of the season in eleven games, which is an outrageous rate.

Even more extraordinary: Bayern have already scored 40 times in eleven games.

A Bundesliga team has never achieved this before.

It was also the 100th Bundesliga club in the 2021 calendar year. Bayern cheers 100 times.

Club record.

Again not to zero:

The most valuable thing for Bayern on this Saturday afternoon would not have been those beautiful numbers.

And also not that Günter and the Freiburg team have been shown that there is still a difference in quality between the two clubs.

It would have been more valuable to know that you can still play to zero in Munich.

There had been nine goals conceded in the last three games (five against Gladbach, two each against Union and Benfica).

A bit of reason for self-doubt in this undoubtedly outstanding team.

But shortly before the end, my concentration dropped again.

Höler could have scored (88th), Haberer did that.

Why this late wobble, Leon Goretzka?

"Because we played against a good team today," said Munich's best.

And he was right.
