SV Werder Bremen turned the game against 1. FC Nürnberg late and won 2-1. A very important victory! The game report of the DeichStube *!

SV Werder Bremen turned the game against 1. FC Nürnberg late and won 2-1.

A very important victory!

The game report of the DeichStube *!

Nuremberg - what an evening in Franconia! The

SV Werder Bremen

turned late a crazy game and earned a 2: 1 (0: 1) win at

1. FC Nürnberg

. Markus Anfang's team had once again put themselves into trouble with an annoying goal from Nikola Dovedan (19th). The crisis was already within reach, but the relegated man braced himself impressively against the defeat. Niclas Füllkrug (80th) equalized and substitute Leonardo Bittencourt (88th) even scored the winning goal. With the first three after three not won games, Bremen jumped to eighth place in the table and thus at least remain in the orbit of the promotion ranks.

Compared to the 1-1 draw against FC St. Pauli, Werder coach Markus Anfang only made one change in the starting line-up - and that involuntarily: Mitchell Weiser slipped into the team for the injured Felix Agu (calf problems).

The bench was prominently occupied, there in Ömer Toprak (for the first time after a two-month injury break in the squad),

Leonardo Bittencourt

(back after the flu) and Christian Groß (short comeback against St. Pauli) more than half the team's council was waiting for an assignment.

Werder Bremen against 1. FC Nürnberg: Nikola Dovedan meets unconditionally for the club leadership

In the system, the beginning bet on a 3-5-2, as it did against St. Pauli - that is, a triple chain and a double point. Especially the storm duo Marvin Ducksch and Niclas Füllkrug immediately attracted attention - not only physically with the many long balls, but also playfully. After a fine one-two with Füllkrug, Ducksch had a free run, but finished a little too harmlessly, club keeper Christian Mathenia steered the ball to the crossbar (10th). The ex-hamburger was again on the post five minutes later when Manuel Mbom had pointed at it from twelve meters. Annoying for

Werder Bremen

, not for the first time this season the best scoring opportunities had been missed.

The receipt was promptly received: The Nuremberg team, who had been quite impressed by then, used their first real push to make it 1-0 (19th minute).

Anthony Jung and Nicolai Rapp had badly defended against flanking Taylan Duman on the outside lane - and Weiser not at all against Nikola Dovedan in the middle.

The Nuremberg man was able to nod off and turn the course of the game upside down.

Werder Bremen against 1. FC Nürnberg: Marvin Ducksch shoots a free kick at the outside post

Werder Bremen

was shocked, the defense was like a pile of chickens.

Jung was just able to stop a Duman shot with the heel in front of the line (22nd).

After all: Bremen slowly fought their way back into the game and had a chance from Schmid before the break, but Mathenia defused him (42nd).

Beginning reacted during the break, took the weak and warned Rapp from the seat. Because of his fifth yellow card, the newcomer will be missing in the next game against Schalke. Big came for him, took over the position of six from Ilia Gruev, who switched to eight.

Werder Bremen

made steam, wanted to equalize, also had good offensive actions, but remained simply too harmless in the end. Schmid aimed precisely at Mathenia (54th) and Ducksch on the outside netting (56th). This is another reason why the relegated team is so far only mediocre and not a candidate for a direct return to the House of Lords.

There is one person who knows his way around particularly well:

Leonardo Bittencourt

.

The experienced attacker should fix it now and was substituted for Weiser after a good hour.

The hosts had the next chance, however, with Enrico Valentini barely forgiving after a counterattack (67th).

It was a bit like handball: Werder besieged the opposing penalty area,

1. FC Nürnberg

waited for counterattacks.

The Bremen team hardly got through, however, because Nuremberg not only defended well, but also went to work very robustly if necessary.

Ducksch got a free kick, which he set against the outside post (71.).

Werder Bremen against 1. FC Nürnberg: Niclas Füllkrug and Leonardo Bittencourt turn the game with late goals

Somehow it shouldn't be for the green-whites on this Friday evening in the sold out Max Morlock Stadium, which was only half filled with 25,000 spectators in the corona pandemic. But

Werder Bremen

did not give up - and was rewarded for it. After a cross from Veljkovic,

Niclas Füllkrug

heaved

the ball into the net (81st). His jubilation fell at the old place of work, where he had played from 2014 to 2016, but only briefly because the striker wanted more.

Werder Bremen

played to win.

Ducksch failed twice again due to Mathenia (82nd and 85th).

It was bewitched until

Leonardo Bittencourt was

exactly right and shot a falsified filling mug template to make it 2-1 (88th).

Werder madness in Franconia - the substitute players stormed behind the gate to celebrate the lead with their colleagues.

As a happy ending, Toprak also made a comeback in the closing stages.

The captain could then replace Marco Friedl against Schalke, who is blocked after his fifth yellow card.

But that was only a side story with the great cheers in Bremen.

UPDATE

<<<

8:26 p.m.:

With that we say goodbye to the dyke room for today.

We'll read each other in the same place in two weeks, when Werder hosts FC Schalke 04 in the Weserstadion.

A nice weekend is likely after the win today, but we wish you to do it again explicitly.

Until next time!

8:23 p.m.: Off!

Past!

After an unfortunate deficit and a late chase to catch up, SV Werder deserves a 2-1 win at 1. FC Nürnberg, who are still unbeaten at home!

Füllkrug and Bittencourt score the hits worth three points in the last ten minutes!

This means that Werder is in contact with the top of the table.

90. + 3 min .:

Every ball win by Bremen is cheered frenetically by the 1,500 in the guest block, while the FCN is running out of time!

90. + 1 min .:

Now Werder only has to bring the result over time for a few moments, Nuremberg throws everything forward!

88.Min .:

Füllkrug shoots, Nürnberger blocks.

The ball lands in front of the feet of substitute Leo Bittencourt, who dusts dry for the lead!

No offside, as the ball came from the opponent and now Werder is deservedly on top!

87 minutes: TOOOOOOOOOR for Werder!

2: 1!

84.Min .:

Again Ducksch, again Mathenia: The Werder striker is suddenly free in front of the FCN goalkeeper and wants to pass the half-high ball past him with his outside instep, but Mathenia rushes out of the gate and blocks the attempt with his body!

83rd min .:

An open exchange of blows!

Ducksch comes to a close on the sixteenth, Mathenia reacts sensationally and turns the ball around the post!

The corner doesn't bring anything.

82.Min .:

The ticker man works up a sweat here: Friedl sees yellow, it's his fifth yellow card.

In the same scene Schleimer just missed Pavlenka's goal with one shot.

Werder Bremen against 1. FC Nürnberg in the live ticker: Füllkrug equalizes!

80th min .:

Deserved and important at the same time!

Veljkovic crosses from the half-field to the second post, there Füllkrug screws up and heads in front of the Werder fans to the well-deserved 1: 1!

80.Min .: Goooooor for Werder, it was a filling mug!

79th Min .:

Werder nailed Nuremberg in the penalty area!

Mbom doesn't find a Werderaner with a chip cross, but gets the second chance from a distance.

His shot is deflected and rushes gently over the left corner of the goal.

76.Min .:

SV Werder still has a quarter of an hour to equalize.

The effort is there, but is that enough against the best defense in the league?

72nd min .:

Schleimer is through on the right side, lifts the ball over Pavlenka, but next to the goal.

But the excitement is in vain: the substitute was previously sidelined.

71.Min .:

Werder changes again.

Schmid is off work, Schönfelder should now make a difference.

71st min: Big chance!

Ducksch kicks a free kick from 25 yards.

Mathenia flies in vain, but the post saves Nuremberg from zero!

69.Min .:

Werder has the game in their hands again and is looking for the way forward.

But so far without luck.

67th min .:

Phew!

Nuremberg countered, the ball came on the right to Valentini, who had many options and chose the direct conclusion - just past the far post!

65.Min

:

Bittencourt with his first action: The fresh man crosses from the left to Mbom, who does not get any pressure behind the ball, which is a little too high.

In the aftermath, Mbom still gets a shot chance, but hits more of an air hole.

63rd Min .:

Weiser leaves the square, Bittencourt enters it.

63.Min

.:

Geis comes to the end from a distance, but Pavlenka does not have to intervene, the ball goes past the goal on the left.

60.Min.:

Technically strong, Schmid processes a candle and looks for Weiser in the sixteen, who still gets the ball, but cannot control it.

Missed chance, unfortunately.

56.Min .:

The next good scene from Werder!

Filling jug lays down on Schmid, who sees Ducksch in the back room.

The final conclusion, however, only goes to the external network.

After all: Werder is offensive again and tries hard, creating opportunities, only the visor is not set correctly yet.

54th min:

That could have been 1: 1!

Schmid gets the ball at the far post and flicks, but his ball is too harmless.

52nd min:

Not too much has happened yet, but now Sörensen sees a yellow card after a foul on Ducksch.

47th min .:

And for the sake of completeness: Shuranov and Duman stay in the cabin at Nuremberg, Schleimer and Krauss are now allowed to participate.

Werder Bremen against 1. FC Nürnberg in the live ticker: The second half is running

46th Min .:

The game is running again.

Markus Anfang has changed: Big is in the game for Rapp.

7:32 p.m.:

The teams return, the kick-off for the second part of the game is imminent.

7:27 p.m.:

We take a

quick

look at the other square.

Dynamo Dresden leads 1-0 in Kiel.

Half-time break.

Werder are unfortunate 0: 1 behind after a committed initial phase with several great chances.

In the middle of the best phase in Bremen, Dovedan hits with his head, and the 0: 2 was also possible as a result.

The good news: Werder recovered, the bad news: The equalizer has not yet succeeded.

But there are still 45 minutes in an entertaining second division game.

44.Min:

Valentini defuses a cross on Füllkrug at the last moment to the corner.

Mathenia does the same and plucks the corner ball out of the air.

42nd min .:

Schmid!

The Austrian comes from 18 meters half left to the end and aims at the lower right corner.

Mathenia parries his shot with a flight parade.

40.Min

.:

Gruev prevents Möller Daehli from attacking by cleverly poking around in a direct duel.

38.Min .:

Werder is doing more again and applying pressure.

The next penalty area scene for the offensive players at the beginning does not find its way into the goal again, as the cross from the right is a tad too far.

36.Min .:

Jung refueled in the penalty area and looked for a teammate at the height of the five meter area, but Nuremberg can clarify here as well.

35.Min .:

It's slowly turning into a card game.

Schmid also sees Tobias Welz's yellow card after a foul in midfield.

34th Min:

Werder with a sign of life.

Ducksch is sent steeply on the left side and gives in the middle, where he cannot find a buyer.

But never mind, he was apparently on the sidelines before.

32nd min:

Now Nuremberg's goal preparer Duman sees yellow, he was a little too rough in the most recent duel.

30.Min .:

The next dangerous Nuremberg cross from the right, Bremen clears for the corner, which is harmless.

The game has now flipped over to the hosts' side.

28.Min

.

: Sort briefly: Mbom had prevented a counterattack with a foul, Rapp complained about the decision.

In total there are two warnings for Werder.

27.Min .:

Rapp saw yellow in the same scene.

26.Min

.:

Mbom sees the yellow card.

We don't know why ...

25th min .:

We have to take a deep breath.

First Werder had chance after chance and pushed the Franks into their own sixteen, then the hosts hit through with great efficiency.

22.Min .:

And the next big thing for the hosts!

Duman comes to the end from ten meters, Jung clears the line!

20.Min .:

And this is how it happened: Duman refreshes Werder's defense on the right side, lifts his head and crosses softly to the five.

Dovedan is completely free and only has to stick his skull in before he can turn away cheering.

That was NOT indicated ...

19.Min .: Goal for Nuremberg, 0: 1 from Werder's point of view ...

17.Min .:

After a corner, Füllkrug comes to the header, but the ball is too weak and gets stuck in the Nuremberg defense.

15.Min .: The next big thing!

Schmid gives the ball in the middle to Mbom, who pulls from 15 meters, but fails to Mathenia!

So far only Werder can be seen here!

11. Min .:

The next good scene of the guests.

Schmid is through to the left and passes the ball flat in the middle, but does not find a North German buyer there.

10. Min .: Big chance Werder!

Ducksch plays a great one-two with a filling mug and completes free before Mathenia.

The shot is weak, Nuremberg's goalkeeper can parry, the ricochet falls on the crossbar!

There is a corner, but it doesn't bring anything.

Still: Werder is right in here!

6. Min .:

Bremen countered on the left side.

Schmid picks up the pace and looks for Weiser in the middle, but the attack silts up.

Still the first noteworthy offensive action!

5.Min .:

Bremen go on early and put Nuremberg under pressure in their own half.

3. Min .:

Free kick for Werder after a foul on Gruev, but he doesn't bring in anything.

1. Min .:

Werder kick the ball and play from left to right in white jerseys.

A minute of silence to whoever is allowed to wash it afterwards ...

6:29 p.m.:

The teams swear that it will

start soon

!

6:27 pm:

The hosts' fans

intone

their club anthem "The legend is alive".

There is a good mood here, but this is also due to the 1,500 Werderans.

6:20 p.m.:

It is a special game for Werder sports director Frank Baumann: In his professional career he played 130 times for 1. FC Nürnberg, where he made the leap into professional business.

He then moved to Osterdeich in 1999, played in 260 games for Werder and ended his career there.

Werder Bremen against 1. FC Nürnberg in the live ticker - Markus Anfang: "The boys can do it!"

6:18 p.m .:

“The boys can do it!” Says Markus Anfang, when asked about the new formation, which is based on a chain of three.

Against the strong defensive team from Nuremberg, he sees that “it won't be easy to create chances”, but he sees his team as capable of doing so.

6.10 p.m.: By the

way, it is the first direct duel between the two teams in the 2nd Bundesliga today.

6:03 p.m.:

The round (or in this case: the octagon) is filling up.

It is really full today on the one hand yes, on the other hand no: The stadium is sold out, but the Max-Morlock-Stadium can only be filled to 50 percent.

Accordingly, 25,000 spectators will attend the game today, including some fans from Bremen.

5:58 p.m.:

Five points separate the two teams in the table.

Nuremberg is in fifth place with 21 points, Werder only in tenth place with 16 points.

Should Nuremberg win today, the Franks will spend the night on the relegation site.

Our Bremen team could realistically move up to eighth place - assuming an away win in the Max-Morlock-Stadion, of course!

5:55 p.m.:

The club does not necessarily spread fear and horror in front of the opposing goal.

You don't have to if you have the best defense in the league with nine goals conceded in twelve games;

However, 16 own hits are at most mediocre.

5:51 p.m.:

And another statistic that makes it clear what a challenge is waiting for Markus Anfang's team today: Nuremberg has conceded only one goal in six home games, won four times and played 0-0 twice.

5.47 p.m.:

In the overall balance, after 68 competitive games between the two teams, 29 Werder victories are compared to 16 Nuremberg successes.

The remaining games ended in a draw.

The last two games in the 2018/19 Bundesliga season each ended 1: 1.

5.44 p.m.:

We look at the opponent: Nürnberg was the only team unbeaten in the league until last weekend - then the Franks made an unpleasant encounter with SV Darmstadt.

The 0: 2 was the first defeat for the team of coach Robert Klauss.

5.43 p.m.:

For the first time since September 11th, captain Ömer Toprak is back in the squad.

He had injured his calf in the 3-0 win in Ingolstadt.

Now he's back and maybe celebrating his comeback today!

17:40:

opponents Nuremberg, unsurprisingly named, also eleven players for the starting line-up: Mathenia - craftsmen, Sörensen, Schindler, Valentini - Tempelmann, Geis, Moller Daehli, Duman - Shuranov, Dovedan.

Replacement keeper Klaus, Fischer, Knothe, Suver, Krauss, Nürnberger, Borkowski, Schäffler and Schleimer take a seat on the bench at Glubb's.

17:37:

The Werder squad is completed by substitute goalkeepers Zetterer, Groß, Mai, Toprak, Bittencourt Schmidt, Schönfelder, Assalé and Dinkci.

5:34 p.m.:

With that we have a change compared to the 1-1 draw against St. Pauli: Agu stays out due to injury, Mitchell Weiser starts for him.

Werder Bremen against 1. FC Nürnberg in the live ticker: The lineups are there!

5.30 p.m.:

Now they are there: Pavlenka - Veljkovic, Friedl, Jung - Weiser, Mbom, Gruev, Rapp, Schmid - Füllkrug, Ducksch.

This is how SV Werder begins today!

5:22 p.m.:

Moin, moin from the Deichstube, today with the north-south duel between SV Werder and the host 1. FC Nürnberg.

We are still waiting for the constellations, which should arrive at any moment.

The referee has already been decided: Tobias Welz will lead today's game.

This is where the

live ticker

for the second division duel between

SV Werder Bremen

and

1. FC Nürnberg is created

.

The game in the Max-Morlock-Stadion starts at 6.30 p.m.

As always, the

line-ups of

both teams start

about an hour in

advance.

Have fun!

On to the preliminary report of the game:

Preliminary report: With a win against 1. FC Nürnberg, Werder Bremen would finally like to take another step forward

Bremen -

Markus Anfang

had already spoken a lot up there on the podium, when asked about the Bremen personnel situation before the away game at

1. FC Nürnberg

or classified the opponent's strengths. Shortly before the end of the press conference, the

SV Werder Bremen

coach said

one more sentence, which his neighbor Clemens Fritz immediately met with silent approval, expressed by a subtle nod of the head. The initial sentence was: “It is a reconstruction that of course also needs a sense of achievement at the end of the day.” And it led right into the problem that Werder is still facing in autumn 2021. Because it is precisely this sense of achievement that is lacking.

Werder's last win in the

The 2nd Bundesliga

is now a good four weeks ago, which is why they are currently trying to get that good feeling elsewhere in Bremen so that the trend-setting turnaround succeeds as possible on Friday evening in Nuremberg, during the last game before the international break.

Werder Bremen finally want to take another step forward against 1. FC Nürnberg

Immediately after the most recent 1-1 draw against front-runner St. Pauli, the beginning campaigned for a positive classification of the game, calling it the “next step in this reconstruction”, which was quite legitimate given the decent performance in Bremen. The table helped correctly, but the game didn't even set an example.

Werder Bremen

is tenth, nine teams in front and eight teams behind, still the center of the gray mediocrity - and with every game not won, the hope of the environment fades further, in the first season after relegation maybe a word in the fight for to be able to have a say in the advancement.

The beginning never formulated this goal publicly, but always rhetorically carefully placed the reconstruction before the promotion and stressed at every opportunity not to look at the table - but the coach now also says: “Of course we wish we had more points . “Since the 3-0 home win against Heidenheim has not existed since October 1st, there are currently (inevitably) tendencies and partial successes that support said reconstruction.

Before a guest appearance at 1. FC Nürnberg: Markus Anfang is convinced that he is on the right track with Werder Bremen

“We are in the process of stabilizing ourselves a bit,” says Anfang, whose team did not lose two times in a row after the indisputable 3-0 defeat in Darmstadt. Whereby the late 2: 2 in Sandhausen (despite the goal premiere celebrated by Füllkrugs) in its entirety is much less than encouraging than the draw against St. Pauli. Of course, beginning also knows that in Sandhausen, the morale of his team in the final phase had fallen. Another tendency, such a partial success. Before the guest

appearance

at

1. FC Nürnberg

, he now demands: "Of course we want to improve now."
