After fifteen days of intense daily preparations, the Syrian men's basketball team concludes its closed training camp in Al-Fayhaa Hall today, to enter the second phase of preparations tomorrow at an external camp in the Iranian capital, Tehran, in preparation for the World Cup qualifiers.

SANA’s camera toured Al-Fayhaa Sports Hall and surveyed the opinions of the technical and administrative staff and players about the preparations for the important entitlement represented in the first window of the World Cup qualifiers, with our team meeting with its Kazakh counterpart in Nur-Sultan on the twenty-sixth of this month and again in Al-Fayhaa Sports Hall for the first time in twelve years in the presence of the Syrian public on the twenty-ninth of it.

The head of the Basketball Association, Tarif Qutrash, stated that the Damascus camp was successful and important for the players to enter the atmosphere of continuous and intense exercises and the training method followed by the national coach Azzam Al-Hussein and the American coach Tenier Massi, pointing out that the ambition is to reach the farthest place in the qualifiers.

The director of the national team, Iyad Al-Sibai, confirmed that the local camp included the local players, provided that the professionals join the external camp that will be held in Tehran. They are Wael Jalilati (Saudi Arabia), Amer Al-Sati (UAE) and Kamal Jumblatt (Turkey), in addition to the American naturalized Amir Jabbar (Finland).

In his turn, the administrator, Adib Atassi, said that all administrative matters are ready for the external camp, and all difficulties have been overcome by the Basketball Association and the General Sports Federation, expecting that the results will be positive to make the Syrian public happy.

The players of the team confirmed their full physical and technical readiness to enter the first window of the qualifiers, which will be the crossing to achieve the ultimate goal of qualifying for the World Cup finals, calling on the public to stand behind the team to complete the picture by drawing a smile on the faces of the Syrians in this entitlement.

It is noteworthy that our national team will compete in the World Cup qualifiers in Group D along with the teams of Iran, Kazakhstan and Bahrain. According to the system of the first round of the qualifiers, three teams from each group will qualify for the final round, where the twelve teams will be divided into two groups comprising six teams each.
