Boom in NFTs: business with digital trading cards is growing

Digital trading cards are booming: The trade in so-called NFTs has also reached football.

Such non-fungible tokens (NFT) - i.e. digitally protected originals - can be purchased, traded and used in games online, for example as trading cards.

Berlin - What used to be Panini stickers in the schoolyard are now NFTs.

And the market is growing rapidly at the moment: one of the most important companies, the French start-up Sorare, claims to have a turnover of more than 150 million euros.

It was only this October that the German Football League announced its cooperation with the company.

From now on, users can also add players like Erling Haaland or Emil Forsberg to their collection.

Football fans can buy the national players' NFTs at the Berlin start-up Fanzone.
