Celina Sinner can even dream of participating in the World Cup.

Weilheim / Essen - There were no medals for the gymnastics gymnast from TSV Weilheim at the German championship. And yet the division can draw a positive conclusion, because at the competitions for young people and adults in Essen, the athletes - based on their respective level of performance - made remarkable appearances. On top of that, never before had so many - this time there were five - qualified for the title fights in the federal class.

Julia Durmann made her DM debut.

In the age group of 13 and 14 year olds, she showed "beautiful exercises in all disciplines", according to a report.

As one of the youngest, she finished ninth out of 23 participants.

That made her the best of five Bavarian gymnasts.

In the straight freestyle - Durmann got 8.90 points - only six athletes were better than the TSV gymnast.

The program of the federal class also included the spiral freestyle and the jump.

In a good sixth place for her, Valentina Hammer finished the competition among the 15 and 16 year olds.

A downer, however, was the fact that in the end she only missed the nomination for the national squad by two tenths of a point.

In the jump (6.25) Hammer increased significantly compared to the southern German championship.

The spiral freestyle (7.20) also went "very well, except for a small mess at the end," said TSV Weilheim.

In the straight freestyle (9.10), Hammer made a few mistakes that cost the deciding tenth.

With the rating she had achieved in the southern German title fights in straight gymnastics, Hammer would have even won the bronze medal in Essen.

Celina Sinner creates norm for World Cup qualification

Celina Sinner made it into the youth team of the German Gymnastics Federation, who took seventh place among 14 starters in the “Ak 17/18”.

In the spiral freestyle she had to take a fall, but she managed the jump very well.

In the straight freestyle she only had little wobbles and with 9.90 points she got the best individual result of a Weilheim girl in the DM. With her placement and her overall result (22.75), Sinner has a start in the first World Cup qualification in the coming season February secured.

The World Cup will take place in Denmark in 2022.

Stefanie Peisker and Xenia Selbach each made their first DM start among adults.

Both convinced in the all-around competition, even if the top ten, who are allowed to take part in the first World Cup qualification, were out of reach.

Since Germany is one of the leading nations in wheel gymnastics, the level is very high.

The number of participants is also large: 27 women competed in Essen.

Peisker (20th place overall) had some problems during the jump, Selbach (18th) had to struggle quite a bit in her spiral exercise.

In return, both of them did a successful straight freestyle (with music).

Compared to their appearances at the South German championship, they increased significantly - Selbach by 1.4 points (to 9.35) and Peisker by 1.25 points (to 8.90).

Former TSV gymnast Karina Peisker, Stefanie's older sister, won bronze in the all-around competition and was also successful in the spiral final (silver) and the jump final (bronze).

The 21-year-old from Freising is now studying in Hamburg and started for TSV Trittau (Schleswig-Holsteig).

In 2018 Karina Peisker (then starting for TSV Weilheim) won three gold (all-around, spiral, jump) and one bronze (straight) at the World Cup in Switzerland.

Lilia Lessel (SG Grün-Weiß Darmstadt) won the adult DM title in Essen - she was one of the top favorites for gold.
