The Dutch Football Association has announced that goalkeeper Jesper Cillessen and Tottenham striker Stephen Berchwein have been called up to the national team squad for the World Cup qualifiers matches Montenegro and Norway next week.
And the federation said in a statement on its official website that goalkeeper Cillessen was called after the reserve goalkeeper Joel Drumel was excluded due to illness, while 24-year-old Berchwein will replace the injured Steven Berchhaus.
The Netherlands will play Montenegro next Saturday in the penultimate match in Group G of the qualifiers, and they will meet Norway in Rotterdam on Tuesday at the top of the group and the direct qualification for the 2022 World Cup, as they are currently leading the group, two points behind Norway.
