The former board member Karin Fehres has been threatened by the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) with a criminal complaint and civil suit.
As the sports development expert made public in a letter dated Tuesday, President Alfons Hörmann, CEO Veronika Rücker and CFO Thomas Arnold alleged that she was the author of the anonymous letter dated May 6th.
The accusation of a "culture of fear" was raised in the DOSB headquarters.
Accordingly, on October 13, Fehres was offered by a Berlin law firm that it would refrain from filing a criminal complaint if it confessed to the authorship of the anonymous letter and collaborated with "our clientele" on a statement for the press and media.
According to information from the “FAZ”, Fehres was presented with an opinion from a language expert, “in which it was established that the open letter could only have come from her”.
"The allegations are absurd and baseless," writes Fehres in her letter to the DOSB leadership and the spokesmen for the association groups.
"I reject it emphatically and with all determination and make it unmistakably clear: I did not write the anonymous mail of May 6, 2021 and have not contributed to it in any way."
The DOSB unexpectedly separated from the 62-year-old sports official in November 2020.
Ingo Weiss, spokesman for the leading associations, confirmed on Wednesday that he had received the letter from Fehres.
"I am amazed at this process," he said.
DOSB President Hörmann has not yet issued a statement on the request of the German Press Agency.
The 61-year-old announced his retirement from office as a result of the anonymous letter.
