Highlights of the Autódromo José Carlos Pace

The race for the Brazilian Grand Prix will take place on November 14th at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace.

The architects were inspired by three courses in the 1930s: Roosevelt Raceway (USA), Montlhéry (France) and Brooklands (Great Britain). The Autódromo José Carlos Pace offers a lot of variety with full throttle sections as well as the fast and slow corners. The “Senna S” after the start-finish straight is one of the key points. The left-right-left combination is tight, and there is often a crash here too. There are also significant differences in altitude on the course, including the long last section to the start-finish straight.

The situation:

Only at the weekend did the Formula 1 drivers in Mexico rest on a course at more than 2200 meters above sea level, now they are hunting for points on a route around 800 meters above sea level. It's a stress test for the engines. Because of the varied layout, adjusting the chassis is always a challenge. The surprise factor for the engineers is always new bumps. For the last time this season, a sprint race will be held again after Silverstone and Monza.

The statistics:

No other driver won at the gates of São Paulo more often than Michael Schumacher (4x). Directly behind is Sebastian Vettel, who was at the top of the podium three times (2010, 2013, 2017). Lewis Hamilton won in 2016 and 2018. Max Verstappen was successful in the last edition in 2019.
