Now it's getting serious for the women's national ice hockey team.
The German team will fight for qualification for the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2022 from Thursday to Sunday in Füssen.
In the goal of the national team you can find a lot of Bayernliga experience.
However, the team received bad news during the week, because goalkeeper Jennifer Harß, who is in goal for Bayern league club Kempten, tested positive for Corona.
Lisa Hemmerle, who had been part of the EHC Klostersee squad for many years, moved up.
Number one is now Franziska Albl, who was already in goal with the Gladiators and is now with league competitor EC Pfaffenhofen, followed by Sandra Abstreiter from Erdingen. She plays in the USA (Providence College Friars) and last made her national team debut at the World Championships in North America. “Of course I am very happy that I can be there. This time it also means a lot because it is about fulfilling our dreams and making it to the Olympics, ”says the 23-year-old. “That is the big goal.” Of course, she also expects three highly motivated teams, “who, like us, will give everything to be the one team that will be allowed to go to China in February”.
In defense, the former Erdingen women Tabea Botthof and Sorsha Sabus are in the squad, plus Bernadette Karpf, Franziska Feldmeier and Celina Haider, who took her first ice skating steps on the ice in Dorfen, in the storm.
The tournament begins for the German national team on Thursday morning (5.15 p.m.) with the game against Austria.
On Saturday (12 noon) it’s against Italy and on Sunday (12 noon) against Denmark.
