With confident steps, the preparations of the Syrian basketball team are progressing in the external camp in Iran, in preparation for the participation in the World Cup qualifiers, which our team will open by meeting its Kazakh counterpart on the twenty-fifth of this month.

Our team had started its training camp in Iran yesterday, where the mission included Iyad Daraq Al-Sibai as the national team manager, Philip Tener Massi as a coach, Azzam Al-Hussein as a national coach, Ali Shaheen as a general administrator, Adeeb Atassi as an administrator, Majd Bilal as a doctor, Muhammad Al-Khater in the media, Salah Danan and Muhammad Aba Ji Hakamin.
Among the players are: Anthony Bakr, Tawfiq Saleh, Hani Derby, Tariq Al-Jabi, Abdel Wahab Al-Hamwi, Omar Sheikh Ali, Jamil Sadir, Zakaria Al-Hussein, Omar Idlebi, Sharif Al-Esh, Elias Azariah, Anas Shaaban and David Hermes.
The draw for the Basketball World Cup qualifiers was made for the Syrian men's national team in Group D, accompanied by Iran, Kazakhstan and Bahrain. The qualification system for the Asian continent depends on the distribution of the sixteen participating teams into four groups, each group comprising four teams, distributed according to geographical division, two groups to East Asia and the same to West Asia.
The first stage will be played in a home and away system distributed over three windows, the first starting from the 22nd to the 30th of next November, the second from the 21st of next February to the first of March 2022, and the third from the 27th of June until the 5th of July 2022.
