The Albiceleste, who started without Lionel Messi coming in just in the 76th minute, enjoyed an early goal from Di Maria, who from the edge of the box turned in a brilliant ball to the opponent's net.
Uruguay, who had to win in order not to get out of the race, tried to get back in the game but failed to subdue the excellent Emiliano Martinez.
