In the fight for the world championship in Formula 1, Lewis Hamilton has made a remarkable return.
The Mercedes driver won the race in São Paulo ahead of his Red Bull competitor Max Verstappen and team mate Valtteri Bottas.
Hamilton started the sprint as the qualifying winner after a disqualification on the race weekend and was then relegated to tenth place for the race on Sunday due to an engine penalty.
However, he worked his way up to third position after just five laps and subsequently benefited from several safety car situations before he overtook Sergio Pérez on lap 19 on the second attempt.
A subsequent attempt to overtake Verstappen failed on lap 49 because the Dutchman resisted and pushed Hamilton off the track.
However, the race management did not investigate the incident.
Ten laps later, Hamilton passed.
