The attack perpetrated this Sunday in Liverpool, in the north of England, reminds us: terrorism remains a major threat in Europe and France is no exception to the rule.
This is the reason why Prime Minister Jean Castex asked this Monday the Minister of the Interior, Gerald Darmanin, to make "proposals" concerning the securing of the sites of the 2024 Olympic Games which will take place in Paris.
“We are going to have the Games at several sites, a particularly original opening ceremony,” recalled Jean Castex after an interministerial committee devoted to the Paris Olympics in 2024. The opening ceremony could take place on the Seine, as the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron had formalized this summer.
Enough to bring out some concerns on the side of the police.

"All this must be done in optimal security conditions and I therefore asked all the actors, the Ministry of the Interior in the front row obviously, to make us proposals", by the end of the year. year for the ceremony "and no later than June 2022 for all sites and events," added Jean Castex.
Disagreement between the Paris town hall and the police
Several weeks ago, the police expressed, during a meeting with the organizers of the Games, their desire to limit the audience for the event to nearly 250,000 people.
But the proposal "was not to the taste of the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo", according to a source familiar with the matter.
"We want the ceremony to be a big popular celebration, with as many people as possible", we had recently assured the mayor of Paris.

If the details are not known or fixed, the idea is simple: delegations of athletes will parade on dozens of boats on the river in the heart of Paris, with the public along the banks.
"A very ambitious project which obviously raises many concerns in terms of security," a former senior police officer told AFP.
Jean Castex, at the end of this interministerial committee, was also presented with the project to install services from the Ministry of the Interior in 2026-2027 on a site in the athletes' village.

"It is not a small establishment to install these services in Seine-Saint-Denis", launched the Prime Minister from the terrace of the building site of the village of the athletes, alongside the Minister of the Interior Gerald Darmanin.
This establishment concerns agents currently working near Bercy, 2,500 people, in a rental building, said a representative of the Ministry of the Interior.
