The troubled Spanish football club FC Barcelona is not calming down.
After barely more than a year in office, sports director Ramon Planes has left the club of the German national goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen.
As Barca announced on Tuesday, the 54-year-old asked for his contract to be terminated.
Among other things, Planes was responsible for signing midfield jewel Pedri.
How the heavily indebted club, which had to let icon Lionel Messi go for financial reasons in the summer, will settle Planes' succession is still open.
However, previous agent Jordi Cruyff, son of Barca legend Johan Cruyff, could be promoted.
After the sporting downturn, the Catalans split from coach Ronald Koeman at the end of October and replaced him with long-time midfield star Xavi.
FC Barcelona is currently ninth in the Spanish league.
Sports director Planes only took up his post in August 2020.
He originally had a contract until the end of June 2022.
