Proof that Barça is no longer running on gold, also proof of his attachment to the Catalan club and his desire to take its destiny in order to restore it to its former glory, Xavi has fulfilled part of the amount of his release clause with the Qatari team of Al Sadd, to join Spain.

According to the Iberian press, the La Liga economic control department agreed to validate on Monday the contract of the new Barcelona coach which runs until 2024. The release clause, which amounted according to the “Sport” newspaper to € 5 million, was settled partly by the player, partly by the club.

Presented with great fanfare to socios and the press, Xavi began his mission as Barça coach during the international break, but since the official appointment of the former Blaugrana midfielder as club coach on November 5, the Spanish League has verified the economic reality of this arrival and in particular the payment of a release clause to end his contract with the Qatari team of Al Sadd. In economic difficulties, Barça has therefore been helped financially by his new coach who will lead his first match in the derby against Espanyol this Saturday during the 14th day of La Liga.

“I know the club, it's a delicate moment in its history both economically and in football, Xavi had launched on the day of his induction into Camp Nou in front of thousands of fans.

We have to go there all together.

I will ask a lot of the players, but I will help them.

I will give my life to make it work.

Expectations are high, on obtaining immediate performance.

There is a team and there is talent, I will try to pass my experience on to the players to win the titles.
