Chess is one of the sports that is well received by all age groups in Al-Hasakah Governorate, and because it depends on intelligence and focus, it has attracted young talents who have registered a good presence in various tournaments during the previous years.
Head of the Chess Technical Committee in Al-Hasakah, coach Mithaq Al-Hassan, said in a statement to SANA, “Al-Hasakah held many different tournaments in the game, such as issue chess, normal chess, and fast chess. During the years before 2012, about 41 chess tournaments were held for all playing systems annually, but the establishment of these tournaments It fell by nearly half as a result of the difficult conditions.”
Al-Hassan indicated that the governorate has produced many international professors in the game during the past years, and their number reached 12 international professors, after achieving advanced results in Arab championships, pointing out that there are currently 20 chess players with good skills, 5 of whom constitute champion projects at the level of Arabs and Asia, their ages are less than Ten years, they are Tim Hassan, Ahmed Mazen Daghim, Hisham Al-Shaher, Mohamed Nour and Wael Al-Ahmad, and if they are given care and attention, they will achieve very distinguished results at the local and international levels.
Regarding the difficulties facing the game, Al-Hassan explained that in light of the spread of the Corona pandemic, all international chess tournaments are held on the Internet, so the required equipment must be provided at the training center to participate in these tournaments.
The Chairman of the Technical Committee of the game called for the necessity of giving this sport the greatest attention and working to provide the requirements of the training process according to the capabilities that help maintain the distinguished level that this sport has reached over the past years.
