Peru achieved a valuable victory over its host Venezuela, with two goals to one, in the 14th round of the South American qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup.
Peru ended the first half of the match with a clean goal scored by Gianluca Lapadula in the 18th minute. In the second half, the Venezuelan team managed to equalize through Darwin Machis in the 52nd minute, before Cristian Cueva scored the winning goal for the Peruvian team in the 65th minute, while Darwin Matches missed the opportunity to score the equalizer for the hosts after he missed a penalty kick in the 69th minute.
Peru moved up to fifth place in the South American World Cup qualifying qualifiers table with 17 points, while Venezuela's balance froze at seven points in tenth and last place.
