The Danish national soccer team wants to use their participation in the World Cup in Qatar next year to draw attention to the human rights situation in the Arab country.
The Danish football association DBU announced on Wednesday numerous initiatives how to make the critical attitude towards Qatar's handling of guest workers clear.
The commercial partners want to limit their activities and not attend events that are not of a sporting nature - unless they are part of the critical dialogue, it said in a communication.
The DBU also wants to limit its travel activities and send fewer employees to the tournament.
In addition, the sponsors Danske Spil and Arbejdernes Landsbank want to dispense with their logos on the jerseys and give the players space for political messages.
"The DBU has been very critical of the World Cup in Qatar for a long time, but we are now intensifying our efforts and the critical dialogue," said the head of the association, Jakob Jensen, according to the announcement.
"We use our qualifications to work for more change in the country."
