Almost exactly a year ago, the Erdinger professional boxer Uwel "Hector" Hernandez became German champion.

The next step should now follow.

Erding - Next Saturday, Hernandez has the chance to become world champion in Munich.

The Circus Krone is about the world championship belt of the World Boxing Federation (WBF), which is one of the smaller boxing associations.

The 29-year-old Erdinger fights middleweight up to 72.5 kilos against the 36-year-old Estonian Pavel Semjonov.

"The title is vacant and I'm happy that I get the chance," says Hernandez, who can boast an almost flawless record, with eleven wins in twelve fights.

His opponent Semjonov is a very experienced man and has already fought over 40 professional fights.

"Battle of the Crowns" is the title of the boxing evening at Circus Krone, which is organized by Lionssport Promotion.

Behind the boxing stable, with which Hernandez is under contract, is Levent Cukur, one of the most famous Munich boxers, who put together an evening with twelve fights on Saturday, including three main fights.

Raphel Rogers takes on a so-called Prestige Fight, Levent Cukur's son Emre wants to win the WBA Intercontinental title against the still unbeaten French, and Hernandez wants to become WBF World Champion.

"I'm in top form and in great shape," said the 29-year-old when he stopped by his old trainer Peter Lutzny at the KBV-Center in Erding.

Of course, he won't miss the appearance of his former kickboxing protégé and remembers: "He had way too many muscles that we had to break down first during kickboxing so that he could be more flexible," says Lutzny.

“And now precisely this speed and therefore its explosiveness is his trademark.” Hernandez nods in agreement and says that he has worked intensively with his Russian trainer.

"We changed a bit, especially with the footwork," he says and says: "I notice that I've grown boxer and mentally." And he resolutely adds: "I'm hot for the title."

The fight evening

in Circus Krone starts on Saturday at 6 p.m. (admission 4 p.m.).

Tickets are available on the internet at eventim and leosboxgym.de or on Tel. (0171) 3325448.
