Eching

- Twins from Eching are earning their first spurs in the men's handball regional league: We're talking about the 20-year-old Justin and Kevin Pausch, who both have a regular place in the SC squad for the first time this season.

As is often the case with twins, their careers began in lockstep.

Both played football once, says Justin Pausch:

“But we didn't like that, so when we were five we went to the minis at SC Eching.” Both of them quickly became enthusiastic about the indoor sport. They passed through the youth teams - but not without obstacles, as Kevin Pausch remembers: “We distracted each other too much and were not focused on the matter with the necessary concentration. In the C-youth we therefore had to talk to the coaches regularly. ”That only changed when Justin took a break for six months. Twin brother Justin improved enormously in this phase, of all times, and Kevin didn't want to be inferior after his return: “In addition, we finally had success with the team. The ambition grew for both of us, and it was even more fun, ”says Justin Pausch.

After the runner-up in the B-youth, both of them managed to win the district league title together with the A-youth: “After that, unfortunately, the team broke up,” they still regret today.

Therefore, they migrated to FC Bayern Munich for a year with the right to double start, but continued to train in Eching - now with the second men's team.

Her debut in the men's field should actually have come earlier, but because of the corona pandemic, it didn't really work until this season.

Justin Pausch mostly plays on the circle, he sees his strengths primarily in anticipating the game situations: “Besides, I can catch the balls very well.” He first had to get used to the hardness in the men's area: “If someone suddenly weighs 60 kilograms more stands next to you, then you can tell, "says Justin laughing.

Kevin Pausch primarily plays in the left back space and sees a need for improvement, especially in terms of assertiveness: “With men, a lot is different than in the youth.

I just have to act faster against the physically stronger opponents. ”But the throws from the back area are his greatest strength.

The allusions to the circle always work better when - how could it be otherwise, his twin brother is waiting for the ball there: “We complement each other very well on the pitch.

Our trainer (Lukas Monz) is happy to put us together. "

In the meantime it is unfamiliar when you have to go to the field without the other like last time when Justin was absent due to illness.

Kevin Pausch: “You do everything together, starting with the warm-up.

It's different without him, but also a change. "

The two 20-year-olds are definitely enjoying handball at the moment, especially because of the great atmosphere in Eching.

In unison they report that sport is important to clear your mind.

Professionally, they are in the office all day, Kevin emphasizes: “In the hall, I can switch off for two hours and let off steam a little.

There are people we trust, it's like a small family. "

The Echinger's success in the regional league is currently increasing motivation and self-confidence.

Justin Pausch emphasizes: "Our goal is to stay in the league, and things are looking very good for that at the moment."
