The ESC Dorfen meets twice on the weekend against table neighbors ESC Kempten
Dorfen - In a double pack, the puck hunters of ESC Dorfen face two big challenges against ESC Kempten in the Bayernliga main round within 48 hours.
First of all, the Ice Pirates will make a guest appearance this Friday at 7.30 p.m. in the ABW-Arena, and on Sunday the Sharks will show up for the second leg in the Dr. Rudolf Stadium at 5.30 p.m.
The team from Oberallgäu is already behind with four games in view of the pandemic development. Last weekend both games, at home against Miesbach and in Geretsried, were canceled. So far, the Isenstadt residents have received three corona-related appointment cancellations from the opponents in Waldkraiburg and Erding as well as at home against Schweinfurt. Although the video conference between the clubs and the league leader last Monday (as we reported) was still sticking to the previous mode for the time being, a season in installments is gradually emerging.
The Swabians made it into the Bavarian League in the preseason. At the start of the new season they immediately made people sit up and take notice with the narrow 6: 7 defeat after penalty shoot-out at the league favorites in Erding. As a result there were mixed results for the Allgäu, who are now eleventh with ten points. After eight games there are four wins and four defeats on the balance sheet. The goal difference of 37:34 speaks for a good balance between the Kempten offensive and defensive.
The scorer list in the team of coach Carsten Gosdeck leads striker Maximilian Schäffler with six hits and ten assists, ahead of the Finnish newcomer Joonas Houvinen (5/10).
The second quota position is taken by Canadian Robert Lepine, who was signed up in mid-October (four games, three goals, one assist).
With the national player Jennifer Harß, Darian Sommerfeld and Danny Schubert there are three proven goalies available.
The table twelfth ESC Dorfen is hoping for a further stabilization of the team after the return of the long-term injured defender Gasper Susanj.
However, the ailing captain Christian Göttlicher, defender Maximilian Huber and strikers Raphael Steiger and Lukas Kirsch are still missing.
In the home defeat against Buchloe, noticeable progress was recorded, especially on the defensive.
Should the attack become more accurate again, there should be exciting and open games between the two table neighbors.
