SV Darmstadt 98 has wrested the lead in the 2nd Bundesliga from FC St. Pauli.
Hamburg had to give up first place after the 0: 4 (0: 4) for the first time since the 9th matchday, but still have a catch-up game to play.
Darmstadt got off to a great start and took the lead with the first attack thanks to a shot by Phillip Tietz (6th). Luca Pfeiffer with a brace (39th minute, 41st) and Braydon Manu (29th) scored the other goals for the hosts in the sold-out stadium at Böllenfalltor with 13,000 spectators. The guests, who never won ten games in Darmstadt, left the field as losers for the first time after four games and ten points.
After a 4: 1 (2: 1) against Jahn Regensburg, Hamburger SV has been undefeated for eleven league games in a row.
In front of 25,000 fans in the Volksparkstadion, Ludovit Reis (31st minute), Faride Alidou (45th), Sonny Kittel (65th) with a penalty kick and Anssi Suhonen (87th) for the hosts.
Jan-Niklas Beste (33rd) was successful for the guests, who slipped from second to fourth in the table.
Promoted Hansa Rostock has suffered a setback in the fight to stay in the league.
After two previous wins, Hansa lost to FC Erzgebirge Aue 1: 2 (1: 1) at home.
John Verhoek (37th) scored the only goal for the hosts who conceded their fourth home defeat in front of 21,750 spectators in the Ostseestadion.
Nicolas Kühn (19th) and Antonio Jonjic (66th) scored for the Saxons, who left the relegation ranks.
