Galthié: "We are not going to take ourselves for others"

2021-11-20T23:28:03.657Z

The coach relishes the success of his team. But remember that this is only a step on the road to the World Cup, in two years.

Did you expect such a performance from your players?

Fabien Galthié:

Throughout the preparation, I saw players ready, determined, who believed in themselves.

This is how I felt these four weeks.

I saw a team build to be there today.

The start of the match, the first half when the team is in place, plays fair, stifles the opponent, believes in itself ... The players believe in themselves collectively.

Without taking the lead.

Is this the biggest victory in the history of the XV of France against the All Blacks?

Is it a message to your opponents?

It is an important moment on our journey.

An important moment to continue living so intensely, with so much pleasure.

This last game of the tour against the All Blacks was a date.

The hyper positive result brings us a lot of satisfaction.

A moment of growth for the players.

This result will give them a lot of confidence.

But the goal is to keep growing.

What did you think of Ntamack's daring relaunch shortly after the hour mark, which turns the tide of this match?

It's an incredible moment in this game!

We live a second half flow where we have a low time, then very low.

It's very astonishing what happens to us then.

Until Romain and the others behind him say "stop, it's over, we take control of the match"!

The presence of three other players around Romain allows him to trigger this relaunch which brings us back to the All Blacks line.

But the team decided to say "we gave you enough points, we stop ..."

"The priority is to maintain this level of performance: that of a team that is doing well, of a team that matters"

Fabien Galthie

This is the first time since 2012 that the XV of France has won its three matches on the November tour.

What is your assessment?

It's difficult to take stock, it's a bit early ... We have embarked on a path that leads us further.

On the construction of the tour, our way of managing the group with a lot of emulation, strong collective benchmarks that always allow us to be in the game, always in a position to win until the end.

It is a satisfaction.

It means that the team is collectively in place, that it has assets and weapons available.

Does this success make France a candidate for the world title?

It is not this result that makes it, it is our ambition, the ambition of the players.

World title candidate, it's our way of life.

This result is the consequence.

This victory will not change our vision.

We are not going to take ourselves for others after this victory.

It is a passage, a stage on our way.

Have you identified areas for improvement as a priority?

Hot, it's really difficult.

We finished the tour.

It is important to take advantage now.

Quirky, light.

We will take the time to analyze, then share our analysis with the players… Already maintain this level of performance: that of a team that is doing well, of a team that matters.
